Hi

i did a quick search for load and login but i didnt see this posted.

I remember browsing a mag stand and seeing a comp mag say something about when u boot up ur comp, windows can load faster.

Does anyone have a site or something about this.

I think i can get my windows to load faster if i tell it to stop looking for raid.

I only have 1 HDD and everytime i boot it up it says looking for RAID and it hit ctrl-s or something to go into raid menu.

I have an abit nf7-s mobo with an 160 gig SATA samsung.

thx

Search and download Microsoft's BootVis. It optimizes the placement of your boot files for speed.

I got bootvis.

I am a little confused on how to use it, nothing is real clean in any of the read files.

I run up bootvis

then i clicked on trace

then optimize system

then it rebooted my system, when my system loaded, it said bootvis is not optimizing, i left for a little bit and then it as gone.

Is this all i have to do.? do i never have to do it again?

When is the option to disable raid in BIOS?

thx for all the help

From Microsoft Web Site
About Bootvis.exe
Bootvis.exe is a performance tracing and visualization tool that Microsoft designed to help PC system designers and software developers identify performance issues for boot/resume timing while developing new PC products or supporting software.

Please note that Bootvis.exe is not a tool that will improve boot/resume performance for end users. Contrary to some published reports, Bootvis.exe cannot reduce or alter a system's boot or resume performance. The boot optimization routines invoked by Bootvis.exe are built into Windows XP. These routines run automatically at pre-determined times as part of the normal operation of the operating system.

If you are an end-user seeking to resolve issues for boot/resume performance on your PC, we recommend that you contact the vendor from whom you purchased the PC. For information from Microsoft on specific issues, you can search Knowledge Base for Windows XP product issues related to "resume time." Knowledge Base is a free information service available at: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=fh;[ln

Start with the basics: disable all items you don't need in the BIOS and disable any startup items and services you don't need.
