Making transfers with Citibank E-Savings account(the 4.75% )

So I have the Citibank E-savings cause they have the 4.75% right now.(I also have ING, Emmigarnt).

If any of you does online banking, its pretty common knowledge that it takes 2-3 days to move your funds.
But as with ING and Emmigrant, once that 2-3 days are up, if that amount disappeared from my checking, it will show up on their end.
EXAMPLE:
I initiated from Emmigrant to pull $5000 from my Wamu checking account on Jun 1.
Lets say June 3, the $5000 disappeared from Wamu and appeared in Emmigrant on June 3 also

Which brings me to Citibank.
Their view of the 2-3 day process is totally different.
Example:
I initiated from Citibank to pull $5000 from my Wamu checking account on Jun 1.
Lets say June 3, the $5000 disappeared from Wamu but does not appear on my Citibank account.
I got pissed called and talked to the supervisor and he tells me it won't appear until June 5th.....its their 2-3 days process.

Safe to say I was livid.
I have never seen this before.
I thought direct transfer means "if funds disappear from one institution, it need to appear at the other institution"
For example last month with Emmigrant:
I used Emmigrant to pull money from Wamu 3 times and everytime it disappear from Wamu, it showed up in Emmigrant.

Its a farce having money "floating in space"
You know if I had done $50K, 3 days would have meant $20.
I can only spread thew news. I won't be putting any more money in Citibank E-savings.

They get to earn interest on that money for the 2-3 days it clears(even if it works out to a penny). Lots of banks add these wait times in for that.

Sorry, never seen it yet.
So why is it with ING and Emmigrant, whenever funds disappear from my Wamu checking account, it always appear in my ING/Emmigrant on the same day ??

To refuse to use Citibank e-Savings because of funds transfer delay is a foolish decision.

Every bank should make tens of thousands available to you without a guarantee the funds are good.

Why? There are better banks out there with equal or better rates.

I think regardless of if the money has disappeared at your old institution, 2-3 business days to transfer is pretty standard.

Also, in your example, June 3rd/4th would be a weekend, so June 5th would be the 3rd business day. Not sure if that was intentional from your example, but if it is that seems like a normal transfer time.
