Making the Girlfriend dinner

The girlfriend is going to be home in about two and a half hours and I want to have a good dinner ready for her when she gets home.

I need some ideas though, I searched foodnetwork.com for a while but nothing jumped out at me.

The one rule is no seafood dishes.

Thanks to any that help 🙂

EDIT:
I ended up going with the bertolli idea, I also picked up some french bread while I was in the supermarket, I throw a salad together and for dessert hot cocoa and chocolate cookies with a movie. 🙂

go to super market
go to the frozen section.

buy a package of bertolli heat and serve.

it's good stuff! If you want to make it better, just buy some fresh veggies cut and put them in .

hotdog FTW!

Seriously tho, what is your cooking skill level? When it comes to recipe start-to-finish times, YMMV based largely on, well, how good or bad you are at it.

How about a pan-broiled NY Strip steak, twice-baked potatoes, and some fresh steamed brocolli?

A person in your medical condition shouldn't be interacting with females in a way that could result in sexual activity.

😛

First of all thats not me. 😕

Second I am told that I am a pretty good cook so throw anything at me.

You really can't go wrong with that.

Bertolli stuff is good.

I ate this stuff all the time when I was in the dorms.

It's like 6-7 bucks per pack tho.
but they put decent amounts of meats and veggies in there.

I think I may go with the bertolli idea, but keep the ideas coming because I will only use that as a last resort.

Speghetti with some good sauce and metaballs and/or sausage is always a good idea.

Add on a good salad (even buy one from a local restaurant if you want) and you are set.

Add a single candle and some slowers.

Maybe some wine

YOU ARE GOLDEN!

How can you go wrong with any one of these ?

The only thing is that I just went to the grocery store earlier today and its sort of a trip there, but if I can't come up with anything I think I will go that route.

Can you explain twice baked?

You bake the potota as though you are making a regular baked potato, but for a slightly shorter period of time. You then cut the potato in long halves, and scoop out the middle of the potatos into a mixing bowl. You then add butter, milk, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and garlic, and mix . You then scoop the pototo mixture back into the potato shells, and bake for another 15 minutes until the tops are a light golden brown.

It's absolutely delicious, and looks like thiswhen done...

With that in mind it would help immensely to know what you have on hand...

As long as you have some form of pasta, some form of meat, some onion and some garlic... you should be in pretty good shape....

I have different kinds of pasta, red onion, no garlic though, salad mix, red potatoes, etc.

Hard to come up with what I have in the cupboards.

Forget the pasta. What kind of meat do you have around?

ETA - I mean any steak, pork, chicken, etc? 😉

Chicken Alfredo. I find that to be the best meal to make when your in a jam. Its easy to make, tastes great, and actually looks like you need to knwo what you are doing to make it and have it taste good...while in reality its like..cook chicken..cook noodles...add sauce.

Baked Ziti..might take too long..
Some home made mac and cheese?
Steak?
hamberugers?
Ceaser Salads?

P&J always a winner...

I'm Asian.

1) I throw in my chicken drumsticks into the pot. 1:1 ratio of soy sauce to water. Add rice vinegar. Add spices.
2) Rice in the rice cooker
3) Stir fry gailan/other veggies
4) korean bbq

That is what IW ould make.

If I had time I would make korean noodles (chap chae)

If I'm feeling white I take out my frozen ORange Roughy fillets and microwave them/bake them. Then I whip out the ravioli and throw prego on top of it.
