Making move to PCI-e........now which card to choose?

Not a heavy gamer at all.....no HL2 or Doom 3 or UT. Once in a while a driving game....I'm more an RTS gamer, though.

I'm currently using an ATI 9600XT 128MB AGP and pretty happy with its performance. So, I'm looking for something with similar performance in the PCI-e arena for around the same price range as the 9600XT.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!!!

Maybe a passively-cooled 6600, especially if you can get a refurb for cheap at NewEgg (as low as $68 right now, albeit with fan)? The <$200 6600GT and ~$300 X800XL are the best PCIe values in their respective classes, but both are overkill if you don't really game. OTOH, even RTS games (Age of Empires III, for example) are adding gobs of eye candy, in which case a strong 3D performer may come in handy.

I think Gigabyte makes a passively-cooled 6600GT, if noise is a factor.

No, noise isn't really much of a factor......

But I honestly was trying to stay at $150 or a little less......$200 is just a tad high right now for a video card, although the 6600GT, from what I've read, is a great card for the price.
