Making monitor brighter?

So my monitor is getting old..and even at the brightest setting things are still dark. Is there a utility that can make things brighter?

You can try to tweak brightness/gamma/contrast via video drivers.. but it wont get you to far. I think it might be time for a new monitor

yep or maybe some glow in the dark paint on the screen...j/k
