I can put together a pretty cheap computer using deals from fatwallet.com, then sell it on ebay or local classifieds. You think i could make some serious money this way. Or would all that rebate PM stuff make it not worth while. Anyone on here make money on the internet?

take labor to gather parts, find deals, sell machine, ship....divide by time in hours. subtract 1/3 in taxes(well, you're supposed to anyways.). If you have no problems working for that amount of money, go for it.

You won't make any money doing that.

Take a look at what Dell can sell a system for, including support that you can never hope to provide.

8 years ago, yes - There was money to be made doing this. But not anymore.

The only market you could hope to compete in would be the extremely high end PC - That's where profit margins are still high enough to undercut (think: Alienware, Falcon Northwest, etc.).

However...

The people who know the value of having every component be EXACTLY what they want already know how to build it themselves.

How easy do you think it is to sell computers, when everyone sees those $500 PC Dell and Gateway commercials?

I'd say it's not worth your time..

How about some advice on what things to sell online, like on Ebay? I know one can sell anything, but in your experience, what makes the most money?

This topic makes me long for the days of yore when companies like Alladvantage and Spedia were doling out money for just surfing the net

yes, you could make a profit...then you will get about 20 emails a day from idiots asking you all kinds of dumb questions about the computer you sold them...and lord forbid they have your phone number...it will be a full time job to make that 50 or 100 bucks in profit....in short...dont do it...and never ever ever sell your friend a computer unless they know their stuff
