Making money off Ebay

Has anyone actually tried buying and selling on Ebay as a home-based business? And if so, does it actually work?

I've been looking for a way to make some extra cash from home but I don't know what kind of start up fees there would be for something like this.

ive tried it before but i only end up making like 10 dollars off each sale + i have to go to the post office on a regular basis and wait in the damn line forever.

I hope your joking, that would only be true if it was a rare product to begin with or the factory that made that product was bombed... So are you saying my ATI Radeon 9800PRO 128 is not worth $400 when I purchased it but maybe $550?! 😕

Or if you weren't brain damaged, you'd print your postage at home and arrange the free usps pickup online.
Or maybe you'd have a UPS account, print postage at home, and schedule pick up.
Hell, maybe you could even drop off your UPS packages at one of thousands of free drop-off locations.
Maybe you could order free packaging supplies that are delivered to your house from USPS.com.
Nah, that'd never work. 😛

Well, I was on the recieving end of this, and eBay seems to have no problem with it, so here goes -

List a bunch of High end pro audio gear (having actual gear not needed) at a low (but believable) price. Require "buy-it-now", and instant payment via paypal. Then make excuses for as long as you can as to why your not able to ship (friend has cancer, familiy emergencey, etc - the more sorry you make people feel the longer you can keep it going). Keep selling more "gear" and only refund money when things get nasty. If people feel sorry enough for you, you can get eBay fees reversed, since no actual transaction occurred (other than trhe free 6 week loan)

You'll have to register to read it. She has floated about 50k in funds by my estimation.

I do it on a little. On weekends i hit garage sales and auctions. Then put it up for sale on Ebay.

Usually i make a decent amount of money. about 80% of the time i break even. but when i do make money its usually double or triple what i paid for the stuff.

I do not make a LOT. But i do it more as a hobby then a way to make a living.

When you do it this way, you have to add in the time to go to garage/yard sales, cleaning the items up, and preparing the items.

Can you say Fraud?
The ebay feedback would suffer as well.

If you know what you're doing and specialize in areas that you are comfortable/knowledeable with, it's easy to make money. I do it as a side thing and make quite a bit.
