i have this music vid dvd with one song i like, so i ripped it.
for 4mins, it took up 500MB!!!
how is it that the music vids (m2v files) i downloaded from newsgroups are a lot smaller? usually about 50MB to 70MB. how would i make an m2v file?
thanx

ps, at doom9.org, i did not find conversions such as vob --> m2v

m2v = MPEG2 video stream only. AFAIK, an audio+video stream should be mpg. I guess some people are renaming it? Anyway, check doom9 for an SVCD conversion which should produce a smaller MPEG2 file. You can just rename the resulting .mpg into .m2v if you really want. SVCD also plays in some DVD players btw. If you wanted to just view it in a computer though, I think you're better off with something like Xvid.
