this case is bigger and cools better than the sonata, however, i don't know how loud it is, but after googling, i don't think it's very loud; it comes with 2 rear and 1 side fan

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-129-127&depa=1

this case is quiet, has a 120mm rear fan and an optional front 80mm fan, it has 380W and delivers 24A@12V which i'm pretty sure is enough for my comp; the downside is that i don't think the cooling is very good and it probably will raise the cpu/mobo/gfx card's temperature significantly

i probably will keep everything stock and not add any fans and probably will do minor overclocking (OCing the gpu a little below optimal frequency and raising fsb from 200 to 220)

ps: if i'm getting the 1080amg, it won't be from newegg, since i can get it for $125 @ mwave, it's just a reference

edit: what do you guys think about this,

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-202-007&depa=0

it's psu has 28A@12V and has a 6 pin connector for my gfx card (which i think would help)

i'm pretty sure the psu that this comes with is better than the two other antec ones, even tho this case might be considered "ugly" by many, it doesn't matter cuz i won't even be looking at it/bringing it anywhere

editedit: i could wait, but it doesn't matter because i won't be able to afford it 🙁

also, the cooling on the sonata is good? i've heard people say that it has raised their temp up to 9C higher than their previous case

Me personally, go with the Sonata. Just finished a customer build with it and it never ceases to amaze me how quiet/solid/good cooling this case is. Can you wait a little while? The SonataII and the P180 are just around the corner if ya want the latest. 🙂

The second fan on the Sonata is also a 120mm. Built a rig for my sister with this case and used another for my daughter's new build. Both have 2 HDD & 2 opticals with A64's.
My sister's has a bigger video card & runs about 38-40C under load with the two cooling fans. Low RPM fans are quiet, especially if you're used to multi-fan setups. Antec has great customer service, when I tried to put a Firewire card in my daughter's PCI, the pin header on thr mobo didn't match & they mailed the adapter for free within three days from the call.

how much does the cpu reach under load? (i saw a review site where a 1.4ghz pentium reached 60C under load on this case)

c'mon, i've narrowed it down to two cases, either the 1080amg or the sonata

if i'm going to use my specs and overclock a little bit and use stock cooling for my cpu, what's the best case to get?

Also, if iget the sonata, i'll probably have about $10-15 to spend, and if i can, what should i get to help cooling?

this- (i'm getting stock fan from monarch, which is 8and 25-8 is 17, so i can probably afford it)
http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=130129

or should i get something (like a fan) to help overall cooling and if so, what should i get?

or maybe the 1080amg is better than the sonata (at cooling) stock

and if so, can someone tell me how many fans this case comes with (i think 2 rear, 1 side, and 2 for the PSU..right?)

but then again, if i got the cheesy case (the last one on my original post), then i would have a eps 12v connector so i can use a dfi lanparty, but then again, the msi has less problems than the dfi

I have the sonata, excellent case you can use the extra money towards getting the optional fan maybe if you want more cooling.

I fixed the problem of the case holes on the sonata by by duct taping foil inside the case. The foil covers the holes and prevents dust from getting in the case. It also looks pretty good. If you wanted it to look a little better you could use gold foil.

Of course I've yet to see how this effects case temperature since I'm not finished putting the computer together yet.

The Sonata will cool just fine with mild oc'ing. If your gonna oc like a banshee then the Sonata with 2 120mm low rpm'ers and an xp120 HSF will do you justice, but at the cost of a little bit more noise and $$. It will still be relatively quiet though, atleast to some. Silence is so subjective so it's hard to say if it will be quiet enough to please you. G-Luck.

one more question:

why not the 1080amg?

also, have you guys taken in consideration (other than cooling) that the PSU might not be enough for OCing? (btw, i'm keeping it stock)

and the xp120 is too expensive for me, but i might get the 120mm fans if i get the sonata; what are good low rpm 120mm fans that are cheap

lol I have not ever used the 1080 just seen it; it is quite large (hence soho server). The Sonata is a mid tower which is the size of cases I happen to favor for personal pc builds. Go for the 1080 if you want, its what you want that matters. I am just partial to the Sonata because I have built with them. That 380W is just fine 🙂
