Making IE the default Web Browser?

By default, it becomes the default browser. You have to do something to make it not so. Open Control Panel, Internet Options, then the Programs tab. Down near the bottom is a check box telling IE that it should check to see if it is the default browser.
 
Yep, I even think there's a process running on your machine that specifically checks if IE is default, I think it's loadqm.exe.
