Making front USB/firewire ports work

Hi. I got my penitum III system up and running with XP PRO, just figured out how to make the hdd/power led's work and now im trying to make the front two usb ports and the firewire port from the case work. Theres nothing labelling where to plug them into. So i checked this comp to see where this comps usb wires were plugged into and it didnt help at all, as theyre plugged into these random pins with things like "r40" etc next to emm.

There is a large double row of pins 2x9 and they have nothing in them, i suspect they might go there but i dunno. This is a tyan tiger 100, so was firewire even invented when this came out?? Would the usb plugs just go anywhere?

PS, online manual didnt help much in this area.

Tiger 100's don't have a Firewire controller. I will grab the manual and look up the USB pinout for you, but it's almost 6MB and I'm on dial-up, so don't hold your breath 😉

*gets up from nap*

The manual doesn't show any auxiliary USB headers at all. I'll do a reality check on a dead Tiger 100 down at work, I'm heading down there to do some after-hours stuff, but it looks like your case's front USB ports will be just for show this time around 😱

He could wire them up for charging USB devices 😉

Confirmed... I finally remembered to inspect a revision-B Tiger 100. There is no onboard USB header.

Bigger picture: a used $25-35 AthlonXP will outperform your dual-P3 600 fiercely at just about anything, so if you get discontented with it at all, heave it out the door and upgrade 🙂 I had a Tiger 100 once...
