The laptop came with a 500GB HDD with Win8.1 w/Bing 64-bit. I want to re-install the OS, after I swap in a 500GB SSD. Didn't feel like cloning the factory install, want to install off of recovery media.
I'm most familiar with Win8.1's built-in recovery media support, that copies the OEM recovery partition to a bootable USB/DVD.
I typed in "Recovery" and "Recovery Media Creator" into Win8.1's start screen search box, and I couldn't seem to find the built-in Win8.1 recovery media creator support. Only "Dell Backup and Recovery", which does have an option for making a backup, for doing a disaster restore after failed hardware. So I figure that's what I want, but I recall, on a Lenovo Desktop, they had some sort of OEM recovery software, but they also had the Win8.1 built-in support. I wonder how / why Dell has removed the built-in recovery support, or do I not remember the name of it properly?
Edit: It seems to be working.
