Had similiar problems when I first started backing up DVDs. Fixed it by switching the media I was using. For movies, I've found that DVD-Rs were more reliable with my Lite-On 851S.

I email Plextor and this is what they suggested: Please update your motherboard bios and eide controller drivers from your motherboard mfgr. Also, try adding a jumper to the DMA pins on the back of
your drive, as some ide controllers work better in that mode.

Does this sound pliable to anyone?

Sounds like the typical "I really don't know what's going on" response to me. Anyway, you can double-check your configuration as the email suggests, but I really don't think it's going to help.

Make certain you flash your drive to the latest firmware revision for it.

I have the newest firmware update. I think I will try the same DVD-R I was originally using and see if that makes a differnce, not that it should. If anyone has any other ideas I appreicate it. Thanks!
