Making brownies for mom, I need some help.

Can I substitute canola for vegetable oil?

Thats all I could find and I've never really cooked before. :confused:

No, they are for my mom.

Also the pacakage list times/temps for metal pans and dark/coated pans. Would a smoked glass pan fit in the second catagorey?

I think "dark/coated" means a metal pan with a "coating" on the inside of the pan. My mom has a few pans like that. You can probably get away with a glass pan if it's oven-safe....

there should be a listing for the glass pan on the box.. it'll work though.. i think....

set timer for the shortest time listed. check brownies after time passes, stick a knife in middle, if it comes out with chocolate on it, then they aren't done. cook for 2 more minutes and check again.

he's right.

i follow the general bake time, but usually ten mins before it's supposed to be "done" i do the toothpick test - stick a toothpick in the middle, if it comes out clean then it's done. if not, keep baking.

are you using the suggested size pan? the thinner the mixture is put in there, the faster it will bake.

Simmer the stuff in butter for about an hour till it looks nice and green, then you can use the butter in pla
