Making an integrated SP2 Win2K CD

Ok, I read the instructions on how to make in integrated Win2K SP2 CD here:

[L=]http://www.ntcompatible.com/faq232.shtml[/L]

When I try booting from the CD, it says can't find NTLDR. I know what NTLDR is, but why is this not working for me if it works for NT compatible? I tried it not only with CDRWin with Nero too, and that time i was able to boot from the CD but the SP2 files didn't match with another file so the installation was stopped. Can anyone tell me exactly how to do it with Nero?

try this link and see if it works any better, or has an explanation about the NTLDR thingy. i found this tutorial about making a boot cd to be the best out there, and when you make the .iso image you can use nero to burn it by going to File, Burn Image, then pointing to the .iso file

SUO- You are right, this is only possible using CDRWin. Nero screws up the bootable option everytime.

Exactly. CDRWin is the only program that will create a bootable CD. If you use Nero, it will not work. If you need a working copy of the boot.bin file, PM me and I'll email it to you.

OK I read that website link and tried it with CDRWIn and even burned it with CDRWIn, and i am still getting the Can't find NTLDR error when i try to boot. I am using the .bin file i downloaded from that site too, not one I made myself. What could be wrong?

When I made the CD, I had downloaded the required files from two sources. One of the sets had files of 80 Bytes in size and other had files of 5 bytes in size. I don't know which I used. Also I made the CD but haven't tested if it works yet 😉.
Can someone answer which is the right size?

EDIT: The files I am talking about are the CDROM_IP.5 and CDROM_NT.5 files

Those two files you posted about will be there if you do the Slipstream correctly. All you need is the correct Boot.bin file. Since you are still having problems, email me with your email address, and I will send you the correct boot.bin file that you will need.

Hmmm. Tasslex, the techguide site you posted says to do the slipstream update command with a /s whereas the other sites i've seen say -s, which one is right?

i used -s, works great. i did what was on joemonkey's link. ran across it the other day and had to reformat anyway.. tested, works great.

actually i just tried to reformat/reinstall win2k using my new SP2 integrated CD and 2 files could not be copied... win2k still installed w/o those files, but i couldn't see my other computer on the network, and some things just seemed screwy... u think it's bad media or just something was wrong with the burn?

I followed Tasslex's instructions at the Techguide website exactly, even used the /s instead of the -s. One thing i was doing wrong before was I was using CDRWin 3.8D, that website says there are problems with it and to use 3.8B. So i did, and everything worked fine. I tried booting from it and got all the way to the license agreement but I didn't want to install it cause I already have it installed. I sure hope that when i do format and install it that it will work ok.

For the record, I used CDRWin 4.0A Beta and had no problems at all. I have installed my slipstreamed copy on a desktop and a laptop without a hickup.
