Making an inline pump submersible

I think some pumps do not have the internals completely sealed off. That would be my only guess as to why some are not submersible. I've only dealt with my Hydor L30 pump that is submersible or can be put inline. Since it is magnet driven (like many other pumps) the internal motor is completely sealed off.
