Making all XP pro user accounts the same.

Lemon law

Lifer
I recently bought a used computer with XP pro and a COA license to go with it. While I am familar with XP home---Xp pro is new to me----but I have three users accounts---two administrive and one guest with fast user switching. Having completed the process of making someone elses PC into my PC----but as I switch accounts---I get three different sets of software available on the desk top---and I should be really using the guest account for security reasons--for everyday web browsing.

How do I get all three accounts to have the same desktop and software view as the administrative account I usually use?---since this is a computer in my home---I have no concerns some casual passerby will log in and use the computer like someone in an office setting.

this borderlines on imaging. To make all acounts look the same...you need to overwrite the default user profile.

This is a good start here

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319974

but there is so much more.

once you do that you would need to delete the profiles for each user and then log back in and it will copy the defualt user profile.

I must recommned that you create an account called compuser or something then make them an admin make the changes and install the software you want. Follow the directions above and over write the default profile with that one. reboot. login as your compu user account. delete the other profiles (not accounts) then logout and log back in as the other users...if done right...it should work. Oh also delete any desktop.ini that are present on the computer
