making a ying yang cake...

my brother wants to bake a cake shaped like a yingyang.

I suggestted baking it in a round pan and cut the shape out. he said he preferred to use another method......like maybe build one cake with black and white cake mix.

the only thing I can think of is to use a foil to shape the curve and put it between the pan to seperate it, but then, maybe the mix might leak from the bottom....

any ideas?

Use foil to separate the light and dark batter, but then just pull the foil out. The cake might mix a bit, but not much. Bake it, and there will be a distinct yin-yang shape. Now frost it and you're good.

you actually have the right idea.

Use a circle baking pan and add chocolate to some white cake mix. bend the shame with a foil barrier between the two sides. spoon the cake into each side and remove the foil. The batter will be thick enough that it wont mix, as long as you arent shaking the cake all about.
