making a temp monitor

i want to make a temp monitor for my cpu and case temps, but i'm not quite sure how to do it. i would like to make one similar to this one, but whoever made this site has such poor english skills its practically impossible to read. i'm gonna get some books from my library about electronics and circuits and such, but i thought maybe someone here would know, or know of a guide. i have a basic knowledge of soldering and electronic circuits, so i'm not even sure if this is something i should attempt. also, i wasnt sure if this thread should be in this section or the technical one, so move it if necessary.

thanks,

He's using a PIC microcontroller, so you're going to have to semi-program that to run the LED displays. So you'll need a book on PIC microcontrollers and programming them. You'll need to either build or buy a programming interface for the PIC. He also built the entire prototype board himself, but it's not a very clear schematic, so good luck there... Might be too much work for what it's worth. However, it looks like a good project to get one interested in learning about microcontrollers and circuits. I've seen simpler ways of having a temperature monitor on a case. Look around mod sites, I think you'd find some.
