Howdy,

Just wondering what is a good program to use for making a picture from a *.mpg or *.avi file? I was thinking Adobe photoshop, but I am having trouble trying to extract a frame to use as a picture.

If I do Ctrl+Alt+PrntScrn I end up with a picture that does not show up once I try to save to *.JPG format. Any ideas?

thanks

You just want a screen shot from the video?
Using Windows media player, press CTRL+i. Works with MPEG and AVI, not for WMV for some reason.

download media player classic, and then file save image as when playing a clip

CalvinHobbes[\b] I figured that a screen shot would allow me to capture a picture that I could mess with in photoshop, but it's weird the way that it comes out. The picture includes the frame of Windows Media player, and it won't show all of the image that I want, but when I scroll around it tends to show more of the picture but it still has the MS Media Player frame that covers up the previous sections.

There are a couple of funny scenes in the media files I want to get and print up a card for someone's B-Day and for someone's Anniversary.

Czar[\b] I will attempt that recomendation, thank you :D

The reason is that the new versions of WMP have a "feature" that disallows you from copying "copyrighted" material. You'll see the same thing if you ever have your monitor hooked up with a TV out (or at least I do). Moving WMP from the screen to the TV while its playing results in it showing just black on one screen or the other until it's completely on one screen. Quirky and annoying IMO.
