OK, I'll have a new comp within a month, and my oldest will be pretty much obsolete. However I reckon I can whack it in my bedroom and use it as a multimedia system.

Here's the spec:

AMD K6 200@266
PC Chips M575 Mobo
160MB RAM
2x 2GB Fujitsu hard drives
Matshita 16x CDROM drive

My mini system is OK, but it hates copied CD's (even after I clean the lens it usually messes up after a week or so.)

I plan on using my mini system for radio and tape, using the PC's CD drive for CD's and mp3's (also on CD.) I will have a Sound Blaster Live! that will go in it, and power some Labtec Spin 70's (the mini system's speakers are worse!) I'll clock the CPU back to normal and put the PIII HSF on 5V instead of 12V to quieten it down. I might even put it's old AT PSU back in (which is quiter then the ATX one I modded in.)

Anyway what I want to know is what OS and software should I use? The thing won't have a monitor, just a keyboard handy. I was thinking win2k with winamp for CD's and mp3's (utilising autorun.) However if there is anything that will boot faster and any software that's built for the job then let me know.

Thanks,
Unts.
