Making a grind rail?

I went roller blading pretty much all day today with some friends. I was a little rusty because the last time I went blading was more than a year ago. Anyways, it was really fun and I got my skills back quite fast. 😀

I was hoping to get a grind rail and a launch ramp. However, they are quite expensive, and I need my money for other things. I was thinking I could get a launch ramp from TheSportsAuthority and make my own grind rail. Few questions tho:

A. Is this possible?
B. Would it save me much money over just buying one?
C. What tools/parts would I need and where can I get them?

Thanks a lot! 🙂

get a big peice of pipe drill holes in one side. bolt wooden blocks to the holes Stand the rail on the blocks (make sure the blocks are wide enough so that it wont tip over)

That's how we did it for skateboarding.

wanna ship them to me? 🙂

Could I get the PVC and everything from Home Depot (or some other "home imporvement" store)?

Yes. Steel tubing would probably have less friction, though, and be more durable. OTOH, steel is likely to rust unless you oil it, in which case there will be even less friction.

nah sorry. I'd imagine you could get everything you need from home depot. I got them from a neighbor so I don't know how they were made but it was just a few two-by-fours nailed together with two PVC pipes on top. you might only want it to be one pipe wide though...

EDIT: and I don't think you will have a problem with too much friction if you use PVC pipes. I think I used some wax on it though.
