making a copy of the $MFT file?

I am looking for a way to make a copy of the MFT file on Windows Vista for some offline parsing. Has anyone done this or can point me in the right direction? Thanks
 
ntfsclone from the Linux NTFS project has an option to just dump the metadata from a filesystem, no clue if it actually runs in Windows though.
