Needed files are on a Vista Home Laptop; receiving machine uses Win XP Home.

So... How do I establish a P to P network for these 2 machines?

I'm assuming the principle would be the same regardless of the OS being Vista and/or XP??

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Grab a network cable, plug one end into one computer and the other into the other computer. Go into Control Panel and set each computers IP to be in the same range, ie 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2. No need for a gateway. Make sure the windows firewall is disabled or will allow windows file sharing, then just create the shared folder on the computer with the files. Then open Explorer on the other computer and type in //192.168.1.1 (or whichever IP you used).
