I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure you can find downloadable images that you can burn to a CD and flash your BIOS from. I think it probably depends on you motherboard.

Frankly, I think everyone should have an FDD. It's just a good thing to have in case you need it (and I need mine all the time).
 
It depends alot on the motherboard, gigabyte has a nice bios flash interface. I havn't used it in while, I am fairly sure it didnt require a floppy drive as I havnt had one in a very long time.
 
If you ca get into windows now...then go get winflash a windows based program to flash bioses. It is perfectly safe I have done it now about a half a dozen or so times with no issues....Do it ofcourse at a known stable speed or at all stock settings....
 
Yes, you can use a bootable cd to update the bios. Just make a bootable cd using nero or easy cd creator, you can use floppy emulation or load an img.

you can find img files for bootable cd's by searching on google, most of them make a win 98 boot disk.

Just add the bios updater to the cd and your off and going. When it gets to the command prompt, type the name of the executable and hit enter, follow the steps and your bios is updated.
 
1) Go to http://bootdisk.com/
2) download an image of DOS 6.22 or WinME or whatever bootable floppy
3) use CD writing program of choice, choose bootable CD
4) select the image you downloaded as the boot image
5) move the files you need for flashing into the appropriate location for burning onto a CD
6) burn CD
7) Boot it!
 
You can flash Abit from windows and it works well, don't know about the rest. As far as I know you can just boot up in dos mode (I use a win98 cd to get to command prompt on boot-up) and then run the flah from your hdd.
