Making a backup copy of Vista

Just bought a copy of vista and wanted to make a backup copy to use when I install it. I make changes to hardware and prefer to do clean installs of Windows. Sometimes I make scratches on the discs and want to make a backup copy so that the master stays in good condition. Is there a prefered program for backing up OS type discs.

Yeah just copy the DVD as an clone copy and it should be bootable.
You can even just copy the files on the disk for a non-bootable but installable copy.
Once you install it, get your drivers installed, set your preferences, install a few major utilities and slow changing applications (not things like anti virus that change all the time) et.al., do an image back up of the whole Vista partition. Use something like Acronis True Image or vista's built in image backup if you have the business / ultimate version.
