Hello,
I recently ordered a news fan for my heatsink (a Delta 30cfm). This fan is 10 mm larger than the fan I had on my previous heatsink. It did not come with a fan guard, and the screws that the cooler guys sent to me were to small to even reach halfway through the fan. What I decided to do then was to use the screws from my original fan in my new fan, but to do this I had to drill a 1/4" hole about halfway through each of the shafts on the fan. In doing so, however, I left no room for the screws to hold in the fan guard (taken from my ikld fan). So in the end, I drilled three holes (each at a slightly different depth, who's perfect?)toscrew the fan to the heatsink and kept one for the fan guard. As afar as I can tell, it is running pretty stable, and my temp is down about 5-6 degrees celcius from the change in fans alone. Should I worry about the fan knocking itself loose? Is there anything I cam do to mount the fan more securely, or should I just not worry about it?
Thanks,
