Makes zero sense to me how this can be cheaper

Birmingham>Houston>Tampa is cheaper by 50 bucks than Birmingham>Atlanta>Tampa. That triples the flying time but is cheaper. That hardly makes sense. The cheapest period is a redeye Birmingham>Charlotte>Tampa. I've flown through Atlanta to Tampa before and it was always cheapest. Wonder why the pricing scale changed?

What will you be on from Birmingham to Atlanta? The short hops in small planes usually add to the cost.

I assume the flight through houston is on continetal, and you normally fly delta?

Northwest is the flight to Houston. I normally fly Northwest or Delta. Flown American at times, but Delta is good for me coming out of Bham, but Northwest has a hub in Memphis, so that isn't too bad either. I'm flying at the end of this month. I've got a fair as cheap as 149 from US Airways connection in Charlotte. That will be the one I will talk probably. All of 'em that are cheap are redeye.
