I don't think that will happen. The U.N. may be allowed to handle some aspects of the post-conquest era but the West will likely handle security, oil field management and establishment of a new government.

Yes it looks like UN will continue to handle the oil for food program, until the new goverment puts the new oil for cash program in place.

after toppling saddam, we will work to establish a gov't, but it's way too separated do that.

the kurds and the shiites and the sunnis and the rest of them will all be fighting for power.

I don't think it will be a the happy ending we want

they will all probably separate, kurds with their own country in the north, shiites in the east, and the rest in the west. but then the sunnis will just join iran, and that won't be good. Iran might be in a good position after the war, and that can't be good

but at least we got saddam off our backs

and I don't think bush will be reelected, unless the contenders suck (aka hillary)

Remember Senator McGovern? Here is HIS prediction:U.S. planning more invasions, McGovern says
Former U.S. Senator and Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern charged Wednesday that President Bush intends to invade North Korea and Iran after finishing with Iraq.

"Even now, these wars are being planned by the current administration," McGovern said. "I'm positive, based on conversations with people close to the White House, that plans are in place for the next invasions."

Planning and doing are 2 different things. I would disappointted in our military if we did not have plans to take care of rouge states.

We will achieve our objective vis a vis the demise of Saddam but fail in our stated objective of eradicating terrorism. We will suffer great loss and be subjected to chemical and bio WMD in Iraq and whatever in other parts of the world.. Bush/Blair will go by the wayside as a result. The people of Iraq will simply shrug and go about feeding their goats or whatever.. cept the ones who see an opportunity to grasp the power... the religious leaders in Iraq will denounce the US and bless the WMD use and further proclaim the Infidel must die... Israel will be primo target as will our homeland, however, not too much success there at present but in awhile and especially if Osama ain't found we will be. No nukes, thank God or whoever you deify. One other thing... this is a prime time for the bit player to anti up and bluff... we are extended now and there won't be another chance for awhile... which one... no clue.

The USA army butchers Iraq's army... but the USA losses the war.
Too many civilians turning against the "liberators" because of the increasing civilian deaths in the "precision" bombings..... . After a few months, Saddam still alive (Who I suspect IS NOT in Baghdad) and more people joining the fight against the invaders (Has anyone consider the patriotism of Iraq's people??) , the AngloAmerican troops will withdraw because on increased pressure by the people at their countries. No chemical weapons are used , because there are not such weapons. The guerrilla will have no problem getting supplies in the black market to make the invaders life miserable. A frontal confrontation is not possible because of technological differences (again, how can a poor country with old weapons be a threat??) but in a "normal" occupation life, surprise is the key factor.
The USA people, however, will remain asleep and reelect the idiot........ :(
