Make XBOX 360 PC Controller Work With Any Keyboard/Mouse Game.

The idea behind this thread is to start a group of these .cfg files so anyone can just snag it up and right away have a fully useably xbox360 controller for their game, no configuration in any game itself besides mouse sensitivity and inverts. If this gets going we will all have easy acess to full instant setup of xbox 360 controllers for any game we want.

Install your Xbox 360 controller normally with the MS drivers. *** Added note- Make sure, when you go into your game that the control setting are on all default values. the only options you might want to have adjusted are mouse invert and sensitivity. but otherwise leave the games on default keyboard/mouse values for these cfg files to work properly

go here, http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm to get your JoyToKey software. Im using the latest, 3.7.4

I will attatch the few games i have set up. The only problem i have right now is i dont know the default controls for games like call of duty 2 on xbox, but i gave it my best guess.

** One thing you should note is that the left bump button is usually a toggle for a slower analog stick. so hold it down and the cursor will move much slower, much easier to aim with a gamepad.

Also, a great part is you dont need the gamepad plugged in when you start your game. And do not mess with the controls in the game, do all adjustments in JoyToKey. THis way even on a new installation of a game we dont need to configure anything!

I hope this catches on. Its good software, its free. Im open to any changes in my configs. heres my list of games.

Brothers In Arms EinB
Call OF Duty 2
DOOM 3
F.E.A.R.
NBA Live 06
Painkiller
Serious Sam 2
Tron 2.0
UT 2004
Tiger Woods 06

They all work beatifully. well there may be some more work to be done to them, like i said i want suggestions, additions... the more we can gather the less we have to mess with controller setups in games. If i could just get a list for all the default controls for all games on xbox ans xbox 360 i could whip together a nice set of cfg files that we could just throw in a folder then start playing the game with the pad, no setting up necessary. just like a console.

Edit- Actually, i just zipped the whole folder i have with the joytoley program in it. just unzip to anywhere on your drive. there is no setup installation for this program anyway but the website above will let you know more about it.

also, its a great tool to make a media remote out of the controller. the analog stick moves the mouse cursor and the right trigger is the mouse left button. you can do anything in media center with it, with ease.

CFG Files for the games above. just open and them leave minimized for playing. icon will go to taskbar.

This site has drivers which use the original Xbox controller utility created by redcl0ud. It allows a bit of tweaking, though the drivers are still in progress. As of right now, force feedback is supported.

See this thread for more info on getting it to work.

 for 360 PC controllers!

EDIT: I haven't tried my controller on FPSs, but it works great for sports/racing games.

:)

I forgot to mention that, i too have been reading that force feedback is supported yet i cannot get it to work. sometimes i get the green middle light to flash but nothing else.

the redcloud drivers or the xbcd ones are nice, yet they dont allow use of the right analog stick in most games, nor do they emulate the mouse. this software here completely emulates a mouse and keyboard for full functional use of any pc game ever made.

It works for any game, though ones llike tiger woods 06 where you cannot change the gamepad controls within the game sort of suck. like the top left bump button is some sort of view change, and the game wont allow you to configure it.

Other games though, like racing games that already have gamepad support, is usually best to use the game's support instead of this joytokey because the left analog stick would become right, left, up, down, and no longer be analog. But, you can still make say the right stick the mouse in those type of games, so you can still select menus and click popus, no need to find the mouse and all that anymore just for a stupid popup in EA sports games.

This is the ultimate software for getting your gamepad to do anything you want. It realy not hard to configure if you want to, yet im trying to make it even easier by just having everyone contribute config files so none of us need to set up gamepad for games anymore. the great thing about it is the game doe s not need to support a gamepad whatsoever. ie Serious Sam 2 works great with the xbox 260 pad now, like it should be;)

im glad you like it. its a wonder to me how this isnt a well known app. i had it recommended to me. before this i was completely frustrated with gamepad support in pc games. i really hope we can get a big list of properly configured cfg files, it would make pc gaming life easier for all of us who like to just sit back and enjoy the game

also, i wanted to add that even if you do like the xbcd drivers and they work fine, you still have to go into each game and configure all of the buttons for the controller, everytime you install a new game.

with joytokey, the configuration is in a standalone file int he joytokey folder. no matter if you delete the game or whatever all you have to make sure is the game is set on completely default values. no setup needed or wanted.

Oh wow thanks, but this isnt really much of a project. its not my software or anything, it was somebody's freeware from china or something. it has been translated for english as far as i know.

what i do know is you can make your xbox controller do just about anything you want. there is no reason now we cant get our pc's to use the controller just like the consoles.

all i want is for others to help, because i dont have every game so i dont know all the controls, nor can i test them.

you will see that once you unzip the folder i have linked above to somewhere on your hdd, all you do is open the joytokey software and leave it open. select what game you have in the list, then open your game normally. its extremely easy and you can even start it after you have already opened your game, in case you forget

i just did a config for Halo, it works great. ill put it up soon. im also tryin to fix the Tiger Woods 06 config. im having a couple of problems, i may have to ditch the trueswing stuff and go with conventional bar/meter swings. its not what i want though, i want everything to work on default game controls.

Yet still my largest problem is finding out what the default controls are for xbox and 360 games. if i just had the list for every game i could probably set up 50 a night. theyre not hard to do, which is why im encouraging others to make thier own and post in this thread. if we got a good updated list going, none of us would have to worry about gamepad controls for games again, no matter what the game developers do with controllers in their games. (slight exeption may be tiger 06, they really screwed us on options)
