make USB dvd drive bootable?

I was wondering if you can make a usb dvd drive bootable. I just bought a slim dvd enclosure for my dvd drive but now im thinking that i may not be able to sue it. I wanted to just leve my extra battery in the drive but may not be able to. Anyone know I came make a usb drive a bootable drive for the asus z71v. Thanks in advance.

You should have an option in the BIOS if USB boot devices are supported. Simply make the first boot device the appropriate USB designation, and it should work.

well i cant test as I get my slim usb enclosure next week. know of a way I can test it. Ihave a 128meg usb dirve. wonder if I can put boot file on there adn test it out

Either your system's BIOS supports booting from USB CDROMs or it doesn't. No tricks.

The general rules of how a bootable CD media must look like apply just the same.

well I went into my bois and it have boot removable drive so I hope that works
