Make Login screen and prompts go away in XP pro

How do I get XP pro to boot up and not stop and ask for a password. Even if I get rid of the password it still wants me to select the user before it will finish booting. I have a camera security system and I want the computer to come back on and continue recording video without user intervention after an unschedule reboot or after a power outage etc. The camera software will automatically start where it left off but it won't if I have to log on manually every time. I seem to remember some version of XP before all the service packs that did not require separate user accounts. If you did not create one then during the install it would not reguire one. No you have to setup at least one user account or it won't finish the install. THis would be useful at work as well if I have a test going and the power shuts off .

winxp

1. Click the Start button and then click Run.
2. In the Run box, type 'control userpasswords2' (without quotes) then click OK.
3. Clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box, and then click Apply.
4. In the Automatically Log On window, type the password in the Password box of the user account you will use for auto logon, then retype the password in the Confirm Password box.
5. Click OK to close the Automatically Log On window, and then click OK to close the User Accounts window.
6. Restart your Computer to test auto log on.

Using the command 'control userpasswords2' will only work for Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional on computers that are not joined to a Windows Domain network.

- uncheck 'users must enter a usrname & pwd to use this computer'
- In the Automatically Log On window, input the user ID and password for the user account that you want to Vista to automatically login when starting up

You could also check if there's a version of your video control software that will log in as a "Service", rather than as a "User". That way, there's no need for anybody to be logged onto the PC for the program to run.

If you search, you can also find free software for converting user-level software to a Service. I don't have a link at this moment. And I can't guarantee if it'll work for you...but just a suggestion.
