Here is the joke "with so many Africans in Greece, at least the West Nile mosquitos will be eating food from their own home." Voula Papachristou Greek triple jumper champion tweed the joke and now is booted off the team. Do you think she should have been booted off the team for something she tweed?

Sounds pretty drastic if you ask me. I'm not saying it was right but I think they overreacted a bit.
 
I wonder if she would have been kicked off for making a joke about Turks, Slavs, western Europeans, or other Greeks.

Not saying her joke was appropriate BTW. Actually I don't quite understand it, kind of a stupid joke.
 
I feel like some part of the joke is lost on me but then I hear way worse all the time and think people get upset about these things too easily

The joke is that because the mosquitoes are from Africa, they can now snack on food (Africans) from the source rather than snacking on the euro trash.

The more I think about this, the more I am okay with it. Anyone who makes such an unfunny joke should be banned.

Actually that raises a good point - because it wasn't funny, you can say it wasn't a joke, and thus it was intended solely as a racist comment. In which case I am okay with this. Hard to feel sorry for her. It was stupid as hell for her to post that on her Twitter, seriously. This is like congressmen sending naked pictures to their mistresses; it's just stupid and they deserve what they get.
 
With all the Lou Gehrig's here in the olympics, Lou Gehrig's disease will feel right at home.
