Wait, aren't you the one constantly pushing 1080p televisions in all the HDTV threads? :p ;)

2007. The year of HDTV.

:p

And if it's less than 60", it's not worth watching.

To blame advertisers for the actions of consumers is absurd. It's nanny-state thinking.

Hi fellow same-thinker.

I don't blame advertisers, I blame people for a lack of sense for this to keep perpetuating and permeating (sp?).

It's on because it works. That's what bothers me the most. Not primarily because it's on, but because it works.

The wonderful thing about freedom is people are free to fsck up their own lives as they see fit.

so we should be free to do anything?

The worst kind of commercial are those ones for ring tones where they tell you to text some word to a certain number. It's the TV equivalent of spam.

And with the ipeefreely pill you will be A-OK!
Can't use your tool? Well now there is a whole onslaught of drugs to allow you to pee better. Can't get it up? God knows it isn't the fact that your girl is no longer attractive...here! Take this pill and you can make it!

f'in marketing.

if i had these issues, i'd absolutely be looking for a pill to fix it. i don't have too much trouble with advertising products that improve a person's health/comfort...

Prostate enlargement may be the most common health problem in men older than 60 years.

You'd think some enterprising scientist would be working on a way to um, "reallocate" that phenomenon to another neighboring area.

Now THAT would cause rampant consumerism! I'd buy one! or a bottle, or whatever they devise does that. :p

Anything that doesn't harm others, yes.

You know... They're implementing technology that forces you to record some commercials, and doesn't allow you to skip them, either.

SUPER NICE!

My favs were the old Ameridebt commercials showing happy people in their big houses with their fancy cars and toys buying each other flowers. :D

Hey, Spidey... what's your opinion on dropping top-dollar for a consumeristic toy like a bleeding-edge 1080p 50" (or bigger) plasma? ;):p

What the hell? I guess someone has to pay retail. I just wish the retail payers and lunatic fringe-ers didn't act like that was something to be proud of.

As long as they're not harming anyone else, why not? Seriously, who the fsck are you to tell other people what's right or what's wrong, or how they should live their lives?
