I use the Home and End buttons (at least I did when I was a PC user, to go to the beginning and end of a line. However, they don't seem to do that in OS X. In fact, I have never really been able to tell what it is they do at all in OS X. Does anyone know what they do and/or a way to use them like in Windows?

Command Left and Command Right. I am not at my desktop keyboard right now so I can't tell you if the same works there, but that is how you do on your MacBook Pro.

It is the same as I told you the last time you asked this question :)

Yes, I know command left and command right work, but 10+ years of learning to type on a PC have ingrained Home and End into my memory. Besides, that still doesn't answer the question of what Home and End do in OS X.

Beginning and end of a text file, duh.

Cmd-left and right are pretty intuitive. It's one of the easier things to get used to in the transition from Windows to Mac.

it works in ff though. LOL this was a issue with me too... but i think Apple + Command + Fnx (just hold them all) + Super + Right may do it.

I actually found a website that told you how to fix things like this but it seemed like a lot of work i never got around to.

I've gotten so used to cmd+arrow that I actually was horribly frustrated last night trying to write code on my wife's winxp notebook. I had to help a friend write code for a PIC controller and the ide it uses for debugging only runs on windows. Very annoying.

Are you saying that you do not have the keys? Or that you do not have a MBP?

I think that he meant that he doesn't have a MBP.

No.. I'm pretty sure he means he doesn't have the keys. I don't have a "Home" or "End" button my my MBP's keyboard.

Your arrow keys don't say home, page, page, end on them? Mine do.

Yea.. but they aren't really Home and End keys.. that's their function equivalent. I think he was just implying that he didn't have dedicated "home" and "end" buttons. It's actually harder to hit FN+Home, than it is to hit CMD+Arrow. So on the MBP it doesn't save you any time to remap those keys.
