Make a dual slot card single slot?

It should be possible. There are GT240's with single slot heatsink/fans. The only problem would be the rear bracket which would also need adjusting, and it wouldn't be all that easy to get a replacement, so some cutting may be required.

Finding a heatsink/fan would be the main problem, especially when most optional coolers are dual slot, since people buy them for increased performance rather than to make a single slot card.

(And I assume you want to do it because this card is so cheap compared to every other GT240, rather than buying a more expensive card?)

I know there are GT240's single slot out there, but they are so rare, I've never seen on IRL.

Yeah this is what I was thinking, I could probably just remove the rear plate and cut it horizontally, not too hard.

Not worth it, buy a single slot card in the first place or live with it.

Why? If there are other options...

Because you will put more money into buying a new heatsink and fan than the price differnce of buying the single slot card to begin with, making it not worth the cash.

Thing is I can get a 240 for £23 or a 9800GT single slot for £50, might aswell get the 240 and do the bits to it, plus better performance
