Thanks to allisolm for the initial headsup.

Now check out today's Los Angeles Fry's Ad.

APC 500VA UPS - - > $44.99

Price match at CC (they sell it for $69.99).

Get $15 mfg. mail in rebate.
Get $45 CC rebate.

Treat yourself to a movie and popcorn on the $15 you just made.

NOTE: CC has a 30 day price guarantee. Even if you already sent in the rebate, just take in your receipt and the Fry's Ad. They should honour it.

EDIT:

CC rebate ends tomorrow, 3/23. Buy it now, PM later.

Wouldn't they PM only with (at least) their $45 rebate? In that case, CC is still lower. ($24.99 vs. Fry's $44.99)

speeddragon, if you are worried about the PM, buy it now at CC regular price, then take the fry's ad in with the receipt tomorrow. same difference.

It sounded good in theory so I went to the local CC (Fort Worth). I showed the ad to the computer stuff guy and he called somebody over who said "No dice. We are cheaper after rebates". I bought one anyway and may go back tomorrow and hopefully talk to someone different to see if they will price match. Thanks.

Do we have to go back to the same store when we bought the UPS or can I just stop by any CC? Has anyone tried at a different store?

I love you guys. Really -- I do. I bought two of these with my Amex Blue card (don't worry, rebate sent to different names/addresses) and was wondering if I would have the time to look for a lower price in the coming weeks. You guys did that for me. Thanks!!!!!

For the question about Amex Blue PM when CC has 30 days.......... CC only PM's local retailers. I do not have a local Fry's, so that should be OK b/c CC will not PM me. Your only hitch will be whether Amex Blue will honor an Ad that is outside of your local area. If Fry's offers the same price online via Outpost.com, then you are "golden". I will have to check on that. Oh, I remember seeing a thread about Amex tightening up their PM policies either here at Anandtech or at another message board. You may want to check that thread out as well, if you can find it.

@ speeddragon : You have PM.

Everyone: keep up the good work. I am saving, no make that "receiving" a lot of money due to your efforts!

Edit: Outpost.com (affiliated w/ Fry's) has the same APC model BE500 listed on-line for the same price (http://shop2.outpost.com/product/2994595). Amex Blue BVG honors on-line prices. 'nuff said.

...lol...only will get the one rebate set...one receipt ..one set of rebates...uhoh...CC rebate form says.." fraudulent submission requests may result in prosecution under applicable law."

What's so fraudulent? I sent it to my Mom. A real, live person. If I sent it to a fictional/dead person, now that would be fraudulent.

Forgot to say --- I do this all the time. Been doing it for years. And I get all my rebates. Rebate doesn't care who bought it, just who gets it. As long as my Mom doesn't buy it herself, it will work.

haha so technically you think amex might pricematch to a shop in china? they have some cheap tech there =) LOL...maybe africa.

Never thought of it that way. I know that they do an investigation (at least that's what they say they do) for what I assume would be the validity of the source that you are trying to PM to because they ask you to fax or mail in a copy of the ad that you saw. I would think that Amex Blue will not PM to companies that are out of the country (I assume that you live in the USA). But I need to reread the fine print for the BVG program before I can verify that. Then again, you may just catch someone when they're not paying attention. So yes, technically, they might. The operative words being "technically" and "might". Personally, I believe that you would be wasting your time and that you would have a better chance winning the lottery. YMMV, but I would expect a big "DENIED" response in the mail instead of a check.

Just my $0.02.
