Majority of US high-speed users go with cable

DSL is too much of a pain in the ass just to get it set up. So many things will keep it from linking up too.

i know
here in NYC
RR gets up in 4 days tops
optimum if u have cable 2 days
if not 4 days

thats fast
dsl can range from 3 weeks to god knows when

<< am i the only person here who has not had a bad experience with dsl? >>

nope, my dsl is fine...had it for nearly two years. same provider as you too i think..
upload isn't all that great but download is awesome and everything is consistent... my connection often has 1 or 2 week uptimes even though its PPPoE.

<< am i the only person here who has not had a bad experience with dsl? 😕 >>

Nope, Cable in my area sucks and I had to go with DSL, I couldn't have been happier😀 Its never been down in the 1 1/2 years I have had it

Cable is good for people living in small town.
DSL is nice for people living in metropolis.

Between calling and getting Cable up and running took 3 days. Been rock solid ever since. Bought my own Toshiba modem for $169.95. GRRRRREEEEAAAAAATTTTTT!!!

rc5, Metropolis? Is living right next to NYC good enough? My DSL just plain sucked! I had one outage last for 6 weeks and called Verizon everyday for 2 weeks while being put on hold for HOURS at a time. They would then tell me my line was fine and do nothing about it. I've had other short outages last 1-2 weeks but I would often get times when my line would go down for an hour or two while in the process of using it. Down/upload speeds were about 470/70 with pings from 60-100ms.

My RR has rocked since I've had it. Down/uploads range from 1200-3000/300 with pings from 20-60ms. All this without giving Verizon another cent of my money!

Yall are some lucky mofo's I can't get either at the moment. Cable company said hopefully by the end of the year. I won't hold my breath for that.

my last download was 400kb/sec
that is a little under a meg every sec. did 45 megs in one minute 15sec.
cable is the bomb.

The difference of the maximum speeds for DSL and Cable doesn't make much point.
Even for a normal 1 mb DSL line, you can download 400MB an hour and 9.6GB a day.
That means you can burn 10 CDR per day to keep up.

I doubt anyone needs more speed right now, except for bragging purpose.

<DSL is faster, as we all know>

Dayam I could have sworn my DSL line was slower.

<and safer, as my mom knows>

My mother bought me a DSL/Cable router.

<and cost less, as my little sister knows >

Yeah, my sister thinks DSL at $39.99/mo is cheaper than Road Runner at $39.99/mo too.

Um.. what are you smoking ??? if you compare the residential dsl rates to the cable rates..

Cable blows the DSL out of the water..

For my roadrunner I pay 35/month for 3mb down/384k up

Oh.. And I've used DSL.. took me 2 month to get it setup.. and my max speed was 1.5mb/128k 39.99/month

what's your DSL ? 😛
