The Pew Research Center came out with a report stating that most Pakistanis feel that India is a bigger threat to their country than the Taliban and Al Qaeda!

Not just since 2009, but since the creation of Pakistan in 1947, they view India with derision, hatred, suspicion, and pure, unadulterated malice.

They should have had the USA added as option D of being a threat, it would be 90%+ I bet.

There is something wrong with the people in Pakistan, many dont beleive in freedom and want sharia law. All this mess with taliban could have been avoided if pakistan had stayed with India

Its better to have enemies at your gate than to have enemies Inside of your gate.

The Muslims of Pakistan dont want to be friends with non-Muslims and thats why India made the wise decision to separate. India's history with Islam is filled with blood shed as it is, the largest genocide in history occured after Islam invaded India afterall. This is the same reason that Israel is going to have trouble for a long time down the road as it has plenty of enemies inside its gates already [20-25% of Israel is Arab-Muslim].

The majority in Pakistan essentially ARE the Taliban and al Qaeda, they just don't want to personally blow up for Allah. Not sure why this would be surprising as attacking India is wildly popular in Pakistan whether it's an invasion or blowing up/gunning down shoppers and hotel guests.

Sorry and in all due respects, werepossum, what a totally baseless and I think totally ignorant thing thing to say.

Because Pakistan can be through of as consisting of two parts. The bulk of it is a Western style country that has invested heavily in modern technology. With a large economic segment of doctors, lawyers, accounts, and the like to be found in any other modern Western country.

Al-Quida and especially Taliban type ideals have absolutely no appeal to that much larger segment of Pakistan. And Pakistan is far ahead of Nato or the USA in arresting Al-Quida agents inside of modern Pakistan.

But then there are the tribal areas of Pakistan that Pakistan only loosely holds and have never tried to develop. Sort of like the area in the USA West of the Rockey MT.s and East of California, Oregon, and Washington the USA never really paid any attention to prior to the US civil war. In short, that part of USA was owned by the USA since 1803, but in terms of developing it, it sat on a back burner for over a half century. As Pakistan has viewed their tribal areas in exactly the same way. As Pakistan has simply granted in Tribal areas basic autonomy on the basis of we won't bother you and so don't bother us. Eventually Pakistan will develop its tribal areas, and bring in modern technology, but will do so on its own pace.

But if we look at the present day or even pre-911 day Pakistani tribal areas, its as primitive or even more primitive than Afghanistan itself. There may be some border drawn between between the Tribal areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan itself, but that border was drawn in some British map room and means nothing to the local inhabitants.

But if we look at the respective larger 75 year history of both Afghanistan and the Tribal areas the difference becomes more stark. Because since 1937, Afghanistan has been ruled by a long and continuous successions of war lords and thugs, while on the other hand, until 2002, the Tribal areas of Pakistan was spared that anarchy and misery.

At least until Donald Dumsfeld chased the Taliban and Al-Quida into the tribal areas of Pakistan. And that is when the drone attacks started, and instead of having the US desired effect, most everyone in the tribal areas got hopping mad at the USA and Nato. After all, the people of Afghanistan were merely being raped again, they were used to being raped so Nato rapists were just additional rapist, but the people in the Pakistani tribal regions were never before raped Virgins and their hatred against Nato had real indignation behind it. As for Al-Quida, they had to option to stay of flee, but as for the Taliban, they had no option, at least for a short while, to be on their best behavior with their hosts. And why not, ethnically and culturally they were the same as their Tribal area hosts.

Of course that development caused the frowns in the Pentagon to grow longer so they sent delegation after delegation the Mushariff to demand he take action. Which put Mushy between a rock and a hard place as Mushy repeatedly reminded GWB&co, it was not part of his original deal. As Mushy repeatedly reminded GWB, all Pakistan did was lease Nato a land based supply line through Pakistan to Afghanistan and return Nato was supposed to stay the hell out of Pakistan. A fact I think werepossum missed. But how do you say no to a bag woman like Condi Rice? As Pakistan sent part of their military into the Tribal areas of Pakistan and the people of the tribal areas took out all their fury and hatreds of Nato on the hapless Pakistani army who wanted no part of the fight in the first place. As Pakistan wasted more billions in that fruitless fight than US aid was ever worth. And even better for Nato, their man mushy, as a result got the ole heave ho from the Pakistani people. As for Mushies replacement in Zendari, he is pretty well a brainless boob IMHO.

But the real problem is that Al-Quida and the Taliban came up with a new trick. As they sent the message to Pakistan, sic the Pakistani army on us, and we will send a suicide squad into India, to kill a pile of Hindu's and then the Pakistani army will all have to Rush to the India Pakistani border to shore up Pakistani defenses until cooler heads prevail.

And there is basically where stands now as the Leon Pinhead ticks down to 2014. The USA does not trust Pakistan and Pakistan does not trust the USA. But its still a matter of Pakistani pride to keep US boots off Pakistani soul and have already once shut down the US supply line into Afghanistan.

Whoopie, the Pakistanis won a moral victory by getting a apology from the USA and now have re opened the supply line that will save the USA 100 million or better a month.

As I ask how long will it last, before the USA again kills another big bunch of Pakistani troops because Nato fires first and asks questions later. To the absolute delight of the Taliban and Al-Quida.

But the problem was there were many muslim radicals who killed Hindus, there are over 100million muslims in India and India takes on the radicals, if Pakistan didn't separate then the situation would be better than it is now
