Majora's Mask remake coming to 3DS

Now don't get me wrong, I like this but Nintendo really needs more announcements for the WiiU, the 3DS doesn't need much help.

I'm a fan of Zelda games, but I don't see a big deal in the re-release of a 15 year-old game.

Is it really a remake or just a re-release.? Majoras Mask was my least favorite Zelda because of all the redos, so unless its a major remake I think I will pass. I would prefer Nintendo make actual remakes. They could remake Zelda 1 in 3D or Links Awakening in 3D or perhaps a new Zelda.

I think this is a re-release cause it doesnt look any different from the original Zelda Majora's Mask. I am a huge Zelda fan but I wont hold my breath as I think Nintendo is on its way down the tubes.. I hate to say it but they are looking like the next Sega or Dreamcast. They dont even have one killer App for there Wiiu and there whole sales pitch to buy a Wiiu is a gimmick Wiiu Tablet.Dont get me wrong I have a Wiiu, well actually we have 2.One black 16GB version and one white 8GB version as a back up in case our Black on goes out.I just feel really let down with the lack of games. But my point is they should have released a Remake HD version for Wiiu instead of 3DS.

"They don't make them like they used to."

I don't like MM but I like the concept. About the only way I buy a PS4 is if I can see Aerith get stabbed in 1080p.

I'd say it's a bit of both. Basically they're giving it the same treatment as Ocarina of Time 3D. The game is the same but the graphics have gotten an upgrade. Better character models, more detailed textures, etc.

I guess MM is one you either love or hate. I loved it. It ranks just behind Ocarina in best of all time. Lot of fans were asking for a 3D re-make after OoT 3D came out. Nintendo was clearly listening.

Fans have been asking for this for a long time. I probably won't get it, but I appreciate them making such a highly requested title.

The Wii U has a ton of great games, with more on the way. I already have more Wii U games than I do 360 games.

i actually haven't played this game so i'm interested. doing a bunch of remakes feels like they're just phoning it in to me though.

Wish it was a Wii U remake. Never played the N64 version of OOT or Majora but I bought OOT for 3ds and hated it. It is probably a great game, soo many people love it. The looks of the game don't do it for me.
If they gave both of those games a remake on the Wii U with upgraded graphics like they did with Windwaker. I would def purchase day 1.

The preview sure made it look like they didn't enhance it any and it's just a straight port of the original. Did OoT look that way on 3DS?

This is one I'm actually interested in playing due to the darker nature of it. I never played it back in the day. I have a retexured n64 version that looks decent but I haven't given it much of a chance yet.

Nice I guess, but this getting the OoT 3DS "remake" treatment doesn't do much for me. This game never hooked my like OoT did either so overall this announcement doesn't really catch my interest much.

As much as I would like more games on the wii u, I doubt they want to reduce the ssmb sales.

I never did finish this on N64. Always thought it was such a terrible follow up to OoT.

How old were you when it came out? MM was much better than OoT from a story standpoint, as well as much darker. The problem was the gameplay design and the timer made it a bit overwhelming for younger kids to really get into it, IMO.

MM was an okay game. The timer made things more stressful and made the game feel more linear, since there was more pressure to complete certain goals and less freedom to putz around and explore, which some people regard as a "core" Zelda gameplay mechanic.

Personally, I disliked the timer, because it just created a lot of repetitive situations in my first playthrough where I'd spend one timer cycle (three days?) figuring out what I need to do, then turn back the clock and do everything all over again now that I know what to do, I just need to do it faster this time. It was definitely a "beat it once, never go back to it again" game for me because there was so much damn repetition.

The WORST were those situations (if you didn't play with a guide) when you weren't sure if you had enough time to complete a segment so you have to decide whether to turn the clock back and definitely lose a little progress, or risk going forward, running out of time and losing even MORE progress. All I remember were the times making the wrong call (forging ahead then running out of time, or aborting early only to find out that I was close to the end).

Other than that complaint, I thought it was an pretty good game.

They actually did quite a bit of graphical work, especially on the models and lighting. I think its also 60FPS?

I feel that MM is definitely in the top three Zelda games, at least on par with OoT and LttP. That definitely seems to be the consensus with the hardcore Zelda fans as well. In many ways, I think it surpassed Ocarina in its story and scope.

A lot of folks complained about the timer mechanic. I get that it can be frustrating. Yet, removing it would have broken the whole concept of the game. The whole purpose of it being there is to give the player a sense of urgency.

The story is a lot darker and more complex than every other Zelda. It focuses on death, and specifically the five stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, represented by the five areas of the map you explore. Something a lot of younger players would have missed. A lot of fans speculate that Link himself may be dead and Termina (not exactly a subtle name) is purgatory. It was quite a bold decision on Miyamoto & team's part, and I think they delivered a masterpiece.

I don't think it's been confirmed, but the video Nintendo posted is in 60fps. That would strongly indicate the game is as well.

I would guess 60FPS without 3D and 30FPS with 3D, but that's just a guess.

Unless they change the game up in some huge way that sounds appealing, I doubt I'll pick up MM3DS. I'd rather just play the game on a console and a large TV, even with the more dated graphics.

I'm not a fan of console games ported to handhelds. That's th e reason I don't have a Vita...
