unfortunetly i've run into a major problem. i recently purchased a full version oem copy of winxp pro from newegg.com for $150. I have some serious lower back problems that i've been undergoing treatment for and i happened to start on a new medication the night that i received the CD. i set it down somewhere and when i woke up in the morning i had no idea where i had put it, or even if i had thrown it away or really anything else that i did that night. I never got a chance to install it or even make a backup copy of it. i emailed both microsoft and newegg but there isn't any way that i can get a new physical CD from them without buying the operating system over again. i have the empty CD jacket with my serial number on it and i've desperately searched for the CD but this computer room is also a storage room and it could have also been thrown away by accident that night. Anyways what i am asking is if it is possible for someone who has a copy to send me a backup copy of the CD that i can use my serial number with so this isn't a total loss of $150 dollars. I can assure everyone this is legitament and i'm not trying to rip microsoft off. i would be happy to provide a copy of my newegg.com receipt for the purchase so hopefully no one will remove this tread and i can find someone who's willing to help me. i'll be happy to pay for any shipping and material costs. I've exhausted all of my options and right now it seems like i would of had more fun flushing $150 dollars down a toilet, at least i could have seen IT spin once or twice. Thank you to anyone who's willing to help.

Microsoft wrote you back and said they would not send you out a new piece of media(CD)? I find that hard to believe that they would say no since you have the COA and purchase receipt.. Try calling them.

He purchased an OEM copy and Microsoft will not touch that. If you had a retail copy and proof of purchase, Microsoft would replace the CD for something like $15.

Just make sure it's an OEM copy of XP Pro. Retail or Upgrade copies won't accept the OEM key.

Dude, did you check you CD drives . . . :D

And if you can't find it just d/l it off of Kazaa or I just mail you a copy of mine. Using my media is okay as long as you use your key right????
