Major Win10 Update, Clippy is back...

...except now it talks and listens:

Siri and Microsoft's copy of it are strange to me. Who wants to talk to their hardware anyway? Just because it's depicted in TV and movies doesn't mean we want or need it. And why does Microsoft (starting with the windowed interface) have to copy everything that Apple does?

[Personally I have never gotten any hardware or voice prompting on the phone to understand my voice; I have a challenged left vocal cord.]

Because being able to say "Hey Siri, what's the temp outside" is easier than finding where I dropped my phone and looking. So is "Hey siri, text my wife that I'm on my way" - it's easier than trying to text and drive and all that stuff.

I don't use it for THAT much, but it does have it's uses. Just like "Hey siri, read that text message to me" while I'm driving.

I use Cortana on my portables and it is easy to just speak what I want and get an instant answer. As for clippy I really liked the Merlin version of him and I kept him on my office apps.

I think this only works with iPhone 6S. Previous phones required to be plugged in.

I've used Siri a few times, I suppose it can be handy in some rare situations. But I haven't developed a habit of constantly using it and I don't know if I ever do. I want to be more human.

I couldn't resist and not post this. The other side of so-called progress 😉
I am unable to use my phone without voice control constantly popping up. Voice control randomly goes off during the night. And it keeps calling people on my contact and playing random songs. This is really annoying. Please help.

They have already added cortana functionality to Edge. I suppose it will be similar. It is actually kind of neat, open a website to a business and it will notify you of the closest location or give you some coupon codes. Pretty handy.

Fortunately, Clippy is NOT back...and I hope it stays forgotten forever.

However, the new implementation of Cortana could prove useful, because you have access to certain features, from multiple places.
