Major Win ME probs....need HELP!!

After trying to install scanner software and running scandisk, something seems to have badly affected the registry. Windows won't start and it says these fils are missing or corrupted:
windows/ifshlp.sys
AND
windows/system/cmm32.zxd

Any ideas on how to fix this or what to do? Do I absoutly have to reformat?

try running SFC & see if you can extract those files from your ME cd if they are on it!

If you can get into Safe Mode try running System Restore, hope you had it enabled! 🙂
