after going to a site (gbxemu.com in the romshare section) ive gotten a ton of viruses. I didnt even download anything

now, i cant boot into my regular mode. it just restarts by itself so only safe mode works. I cant even run some exe files such as avast, hijack this, cwshredder...and i cant even do online virus scanners. They seem to have blocked virus protection software sites..as kaspersky, tread online does not work. The only that i have gotten to work was adaware but i updated and ran a full scan yet it hasnt helped.

First back up your data, whatever you can't afford to lose, before you try prying the malware loose.

After that, given how bad your infection is, you might want to do this:

1) on an uninfected computer, download & burn the full SP2 installer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta...-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en

2) now unplug the infected computer from network and wireless

3) do a parallel installation of Windows from your Windows CD. Install it to C:\Win2 for example.

4) immediately patch the new installation to SP2 level and reboot, while still not networked in any way.

5) now connect to the network after you have SP2 and the Windows Firewall. Go to http://www.kaspersky.com/trials and grab a free 30-day trial of Kaspersky AntiVirus Personal 6.

6) in Kaspersky's configuration panel, hit Settings at the top and max out all the options, then update the definitions, reboot if necessary, and run an exhaustive scan. Since the malware is on the other Windows installation, it won't be able to fight back.

7) after this initial attack, now try booting to your regular Windows installation and see if you can get some antivirus software installed and make some headway. You may need to manually clean the HOSTS file (open Notepad, and use it to edit C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\HOSTS so the only entry is 127.0.0.1 localhost).

In the future, don't go around browsing the Internet from an Administrator-class user account. Use a Limited account instead. And get some good antivirus software and fully configure it.
