the wireless connection to my laptop works ok for most part, although it loses signal few times a day and needs to be manually reconnected (yes, i have tried changing the channels 1 thru 12).

the real problme here is that whenever any computer on the LAN attempts accessing files shared on the laptop, the client side hangs the explorer.exe process requring the task manager to rerun it.

what could possibly be the cause for it? the wireless router in question is one of those el cheapo airlink routers from fry's electronics. i remember i once read its supposed to be a d-link clone.

try running both pcs in adhoc mode which is point to point wireless..

"if any of the other pcs have a wirelss connection"

If not most laptops have a network card intergrated try plugging into a hard wired port and see what happens.

You can also try a x over cable as well.

thx, i know wired connection works just fine. the laptop is the only one rigged with internal NIC, all others are connected using regular CAT5 cable.

If you put the Laptop close to the Router and your Internet connection through the Wireless computer works well I doubt that your problem is Wireless hardware related.
