If you read this thread you know that there was a rash of laptop thefts recently at my office and 2 security guards were busted for the crime.

My company changed security firms to make sure this doesn't happen again and there is a huge difference in the personel.

The old company may have required "law enforcement experience", but getting arrested seemed to count... All of the new guys are ex-cops.

The old company armed its guards with walkie talkie and beer guts. The new guards are all walking around with sidearms.

I have to say, it is interesting to see a bunch of guys in suits walking around with guns inside the office building...

I had a job interview recently at a facility where the 'guards' carry AR-15s.

Where do you work that it requires that level of security?

Edit: NM, I'm lazy
Two security guards at a pharmaceutical company in Roseland...

I guess it makes sense for a pharmaceutical company since there're a lot of secret to be protected.

I worked at a pharmaceutical company and next door was another one. While they did take security very seriously, neither had [armed] guards posted at doors/gates. This was at Dupont (now Bristol Myers Squibb).
