Major Scoopage - Disable ATI macrovision copy protection.

Doom9.org has posted a file that will remove the much hated macrovision from ATI cards. I havent tested this out yet since I'm at work but will give it a go tonight.

From Doom9. ATI owners might enjoy the ATI Macrovision remover which removes the copy protection from the analogue TV input of your card.

BTW this means that you can connect a VCR to the Analog input with no problem

Yep. Downloaded it last night just in case. I don't have an ATI video card in my system but you never know. I wish they had a patch like this for my Matrox RT2500.

I snagged it too even though I don't have VI. It was interesting that VO is apparently still protected but with my LE TVO, DVD's play to VCR fine. The VCR is only a year or two old so should have MacroVision so maybe the LE Rage Theatre doesn't??

I know about the rippers, the problem was with trying to record from VCR. The built-in macrovision had trouble identifying proper macrovision tapes, it was implementing it even on personal vcr tapes and 8mm tapes even though they didn't have macrovision. Also I have a collection of vintage VCR tapes that I would like to get to VCD before they erode too much, macrovision was even interfering with older ones. If I want to rip a vcr tape it should be my perogative to do so. If it can't be implemented properly, don't implement it.

Nice find Nic!, I never had problems recording my own home movie tapes, but at least some of my VHS tapes would not record(macrovision). I just did the patch and recorded about 5 minutes of Jurrasic Park(it always would stop at the macrovision screen and just record sound). Bingo! worked like a champ. Test more later!
