Graphical Arts?

probably. or go to a school specifically designed for that.
hope you're good, because 1)you probably have to be and 2) i doubt many people actually make it anyway. can't imagine thats a high need/turnover type of job.

Forget about your dream (as cool as it would be), it aint' gonna happen.

Just take whatever mainstream classes your degree program offers, take an internship anywhere, graduate and go from there.

Very few people get to do what they actually love to do for a living. And if they do, it doesn't pay the bills.

Most of those guys working at Dreamworks and Pixar wound up there by luck or accident. In the film industry, it's who you know, not necessarily what you know.

Some guy with a lot of experience, and a few "I helped do this" checkable references but no degree will get the job you want over you any day.

That's where your INTERNSHIP comes in. Start working your junior year. Every day, add entries to your ongoing Word doc "What I Did at Work." Then YOU have checkable references.

A big misconception is that a degree gets you a neato job you love. Unless you're a chemist/accountant/E.E. or the like, it just doesn't happen.

Many colleges now offer a degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis on Computer Animation. But don't count on doing 3D animation in anything you might consider "fun" until you have a few decades of experience, because you'd likely end up working on small, local advertisements for most of your career.

I goto Savannah College of Art and Design. and we offer a 3D animation major. It is one of the best in the country, with definately one of the best facilities. www.scad.edu

This is absolutely true. I have a friend who edits TV shows, and his entire career has progressed on knowing people. Don't get me wrong, he is eminently qualified, but so are tons of other people. Too many people, too few jobs.

Don't let this discourage you, just realize that's what you have to do.

Not really my field, but it sounds like a strong computer science base would be a big help to get into the stuff you want to do.
