major problems with geforce FX5700 dvi... lots of multicolored pixels everywhere

Ok, I recently replaced a matrox g550 with an xfx geforce fx5700 ultra card in hopes of getting dual dvi monitors as well as be able to actually play some modern games. I now have it up and running on my Dell 2000Fp LCD, but I have these hideous multicolored pixels all over the place on the screen. They only appear at the resolutions 800x600 and 1600x1200 as far as I can tell. It also appears that if I look very closely at bold text as if all of the colors are not lining up on top of each other and there is some bleedoff color to the edges, such as some purple and green along the edges where this page says "FORUMS > Video." I also note this effect when my computer is booting up on the when the bios posts so I don't think it's a driver issue, but a hardware issue. Does anyone know what the problem might be or have any ideas for how I might be able to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you cleared up all traces of your matrox driver? Try a driver cleanup and then see if the problem persists.

Yes, I'm sure. I got rid of that driver before I installed the other one. Even if I hadn't though, why would the driver affect the computer in the bios?

Can you use PrintScreen to capture a bitmap of your desktop and try viewing it on another PC to makes sure it's not the card's core or memory that's at fault? If it's visible in the BIOS screen, you may just have to RMA the card.

Did you try enabling "reduced blanking interval" in case your card just has trouble at 1600x1200 (pushing the limits of DVI)?

I will try to enable reduced blanking interval. The printscreen that I viewed on another computer did not show any problems at all so I'm not sure what that means... but it seems like it's an outrageous amount of dead pixels on my screen... and they don't always appear in the same place, they chenge depending on what is on the screen at any given time. My mouse pointer for instance has several of these pixels on it and they follow the pointer wherever it goes.
