Well, I'm having some major problems with a E1405 insipron that I bought around six months ago (I believe I made a thread about it), anyway, in the last couple of days I'm getting Error messages after I start music files, or even just IE or FF.

Here's a pic with the error:

specs:
XP MC (Sp2)
Core 2 duo (1.83)
512 MB RAM

I had some problems, so I used the Symantec tool and uninstalled all Norton programs that came bundled with the laptop.
Could that cause such problems? I'm reluctent to reinstall XP (clean install), or could it be that a repair (There's an "upgrade to xp" option in the OS disk that came with the pc, I'm guessing that it's the same as repairing)
Could it be a virus?
Maybe it could be faulty RAM?

Anyway, if you guys have any tips it would be very helpful.

Thanks.

EDIT:
OK, now that I think about it, theproblem started after windows updated. At least, I think that's when it started.

Try running memtest86 from a bootable CD. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html.

If that shows memory errors, then there you go.

Otherwise... sometimes a reinstall is the most efficient and guaranteed way to fix it. If you have a bit of cash, but a new 2.5" hard drive, install it, install XP on it, then test to see if the problem is gone.

Well after searching the error number, I found out that the problem was caused by a corruption in Automatic Updates. So I just turned it off.

Thanks.
